The Problem
Powerful exam platform. But fragile scoring logic under pressure.
The platform ran, but the marking couldn’t be trusted under pressure — and it broke in production.

A live exam platform was crashing mid-exam and scoring multi-answer questions inconsistently. We traced both failures to their root, eliminated them, then rebuilt the marking engine so every question type scores by one set of rules — the same partial-credit scheme used by India’s toughest entrance exam.
Crashes eliminated at the root
Two live 500 errors were breaking exams for real students. Traced, fixed, and verified — not patched over.
One scoring standard, everywhere
Multi-answer questions were being marked differently across the platform. A single shared helper now enforces identical scoring in every code path — five files, one source of truth.
Partial credit, done right
Replaced harsh all-or-nothing marking with JEE Advanced-style scoring: full marks for a perfect answer, partial credit for partial knowledge, and a hard guarantee that one wrong choice never triggers a double penalty.
